Mark Eugene Blais born in Minnedosa July 1958. My father Gene was in the RCMP and my mother Evon was a registered nurse. They currently reside in Winnipeg. I am the eldest of 3 boys, relocating with my father’s job, we lived in 11 different communities in Manitoba. I spent my high school years at St. Vladimir’s Minor Seminary in Roblin. I participated in all sports and traveled with Ukrainian dancing and choir.
I was married in Winnipeg in 1980 to my wife Jan (Smellie). We welcomed our first child in 1982, our daughter Laci, then our son Luke was born in 1984. We have 5 grandsons that all live and attend school in Minnedosa. We moved our family from Winnipeg to Minnedosa in 1995, where I bought the 7-11 building and established our business "Blazers”. I operated my business for 22 years where I made many valuable friends and customers. I retired in 2017 when I sold the business. My time is now occupied by a variety of sports and activities. In the summer I play golf, go camping and boating, while my winter is spend downhill skiing, playing hockey and snowmobiling. I find myself very fortunate to be able to enjoy all these activities with my family and friends in the valley life of Minnedosa.

This is my first term as a town-elected Councillor. My roots to Minnedosa go back to the mid 1960’s when my family came to Minnedosa every summer, as we were very active with the Minnedosa Mallards Water Ski Club. Since 1987, I have lived in Minnedosa and have been employed with the Rolling River School Division as school administrator, and am currently Director of Instruction, Curriculum and Technology. I am married to Kim, and together we have 7 kids who were all raised in Minnedosa.

I love long walks on the wonderful trails in Minnedosa. I love reading books from Minnedosa Regional Library. I love the sound of skates on ice at Skate the Lake. I love learning our history at Minnedosa Heritage Village and Museum.
I would love it, for those that do not live here, to visit Minnedosa and share the experience of our wonderful town!
I am honoured to serve the citizens of Minnedosa.
